You are the caretakers

 While you are at OCC, you are responsible for its care. Out of thankfulness to God and respect for the next group to use the camp, please take good care of the facilities and camp grounds.

Instruct your campers

At the outset of your camp, let everyone know what is expecting by way of camp cleanliness and the final camp clean-up. Also tell them the camp Safety Rules.

NOTE: Do not use tap water needlessly. The camp use a septic tank system. All drainage water must be pumped out and hauled away. If water use is excessive, you will pay the pump-out charge ($70 per pick-up)

Dogs

1. No dogs in kitchen and dining room. Only if kept in a kennel will they be allowed in other buildings;

2. All dogs must be kept on a leash;

Please use the “scoop the poop” rule and be considerate of those who do not have dogs and those with little children.

Care of the grounds

1. Before living camp, involve all campers in a “Grounds Patrol” to pick up any litter that has been discarded or blown onto the grounds. For week long camps, schedule a “Grounds Patrol” early in the week. This will help deter littering.

Build your campfire only in the designated area. Don’t leave an unattended fire to burn out by itself. Always extinguish your campfire with water.

Care of the kitchen

1. Public health regulations call for a three cycle method of washing dishes and utensils:

· Detergent wash

· Hot water rinse

· Hot hygienic rinse (with bleach added to the water)

· Do not allow any dishes or kitchen utensils to be taken out of the kitchen/dining hall complex;

· Be sure to empty the fridge and deep freeze of food leftovers. Leave the fridge and freezer running.

At the end of camp , scrub mop and rinse mop both the kitchen and dining hall floors;

Securely tie kitchen garbage and other general garbage in plastic bags and place all garbage in the stand provided near the camp entrance. Tend to garbage disposal daily. Don’t let it accumulate in the area of the kitchen.

Area of the washroom

1. Appoint monitors to tend both the ladies and men’s washrooms

It will be the monitor’s responsibility to perform, twice daily, minor cleaning of the washrooms, mid-afternoon and evening.

Care of dorms and others buildings

1. Appoint a monitor for each dorm and other camp building;

2. Room occupants in the dorms should be made responsible for sweeping the floors daily as needed and stowing all garbage in receptacles;

3. At the close of camp, monitors will sweep the building assigned to them. They should properly bag or wrap all garbage from their buildings and take it to the garbage collection stand by the camp entry gate;

Do not allow mattresses to be removed from the dorms.

Camp gates

            The camp entry gates are there to help ensure your privacy. We recommend that once your campers are settled in, you keep the gates closed during the operation of your camp.

Consideration of OCC neighbors

1. Help maintain the goodwill of our neighbors. Do not trespass.

In addition, please limit the campers to quiet activities after 11.00 pm.

Camp safety rules

Never rundown the steep hills. You may gain too much momentum and be unable to stop. This could result in a serious injury.

Filling out your “Camp wind-up report”

1. Your “Camp Wind-up Report” must be filled out and checked by Orthodox Camp Manager BEFORE you leave camp. Report in detail on the camp clean-up, and note any damage, breakage or shortage..

2. In cases where additional clean-up services are assessed (or requested in advance) the cost of such service will be calculated at the rate of $20 per hour. This amount will be deducted from your damage deposit fee.

3. You can keep your cost to a minimum by performing a through camp clean-up. It’s up to you.
